The Pfaffenwinkel region

Not only is the landscape characterized by gently rolling hills and next to high hills, which add greatly to the general attractiveness of the scene, but the area also boasts a densely-concentrated multitude of churches and monasteries which is not to be found elsewhere. From the numerous churches and monasteries the name "Pfaffenwinkel" ("Priests' Corner") derives. The world-famous rococo pilgrimage "Church of the Scourged Saviour on the Wies" (UNESCO World Cultural Heritage) is definitely well worth visiting. With a landscape of valleys and hills, this is ideal territory for walking and cycling, so take to the saddle and enjoy the local entertainment, scenery and historical sites. The "König-Ludwig-Weg", "Lech-Höhenweg" and "Prälatenweg" are long-distance hiking trails and among the most popular amenities for keen walkers. Steeped in history and tradition, the Pfaffenwinkel region is a mesmerising place combining the best of both contemporary and historical Bavaria and an extraordinary holiday region.
